NED O'GORMAN
is a poet and writer. Formerly the Founder and Head of the
Children's Storefront School in Harlem, O'Gorman continues his involvement with
children through the Richardo O'Gorman Garden and Center. Several volumes of
his poetry have been published.His
autobiography was recently published by Arcade Publishing titled: "The Other
Side of Loneliness: a spiritual journey." O'Gorman will read a selection of recent poems.
PAUL ROME
attended New York
University where he studied writing with Pat C. Hoy III, Chris Spain, and
Steven Rinehart as well as the Writer's
Institute in Saratoga Springs, with Howard Norman, Andrea Barrett, and Lee
K. Abbot Jr.He's had an essay
selected for NYU's official literary publication, Mercer Street, and contributed essays and poetry to smaller
independent publications.Arriving
in New York City in 2001, Paul lived in various neighborhoods before settling
in Bushwick, Brooklyn where he divides his time between writing and managing
the local coffee shop. Rome will read from his first and as of yet unpublished novel, "We All Sleep
in the Same Room."
DAVID POWERS, formally know as D.O.V. (Dialog of Vision), has amassed a
treasure trove of his own personal music and has performed over the years
as a vibrant and gripping MC and DJ. He's had the privilege of working
showcases with such music luminaries as: V Black of the Ganstarr Hip-Hop crew,
as well as Twilight Tone a renowned Chicago producer and DJ. David Powers has
also performed sets with New York poets Bob Holman, the creator of the Slam,
and toured with El Extreme, one of the original Nuyorican poets. While living in Bushwick, David Powers and DJ Wave have
created a spectacular underground art/music showcase called Verbal
Graffiti. VG has now grown into the ultimate Brooklyn happening. Powers
has been present by the ground-breaking arts group Norte Maar in a
collaborative project with choreographer Julia K. Gleich.Currently Powers is enjoying his weekly residency at Sputnik
Friday nights, as well as throwing underground music shows in Bushwick which are posted at verbalgraffiticulture.com
JONATHAN GOODMAN is a writer and teacher whose specialty has
been contemporary Asian art. He currently writes for such magazines as the
internet journal artcritical.com, Sculpture, and Yishu, a publication devoted
to contemporary Chinese art. As a poet, he has won two grants from the New York
Foundation for the Arts. He has published a book of poems with linocut prints
by Australian artist Alun Leach-Jones, and is currently gathering work for a
second manuscript of poetry. He has given readings at such venues as the
Cornelia Street Cafe and Galerie Lelong.
ANDREW HURST is a multimedia artist, performer and musician
whose activities have placed him at the center of the NYC underground
community. He has disseminated a wide variety of ephemeral, handmade
materials largely in the form of musical recordings, posters and memorabilia
for nearly 20 years. He self published his first chap book of poems
"Poltergeist Directory" in 2004. At Storefront he will read
from his new collection of writings titled, "Moonlight Predictions."
ERIC NELSON
is an emerging writer originally from New Jersey, the son of
a nurse and machinist. Nelson has written for publications such as Constellation
and Zine World and wrote the zine series The Silk City Series, which is now
a book of short stories from Knickerbocker Circus Publishing. Heavily involved
in the New York City DIY print culture, Nelson works at ABC No Rio's Zine Library
and (occasionally) Bluestockings Bookstore, prints a zine called The Cup and
Saucer Chronicles and is currently at work on his debut novel. He can usually
be found laughing loudly at something inappropriate. Nelson will read
from his book One Night at the Rail Yard.
PETER WEISMAN came to Bushwick in 2006 already heavily
involved in the pains and pleasures of life. Weisman has written many notable, brilliant pieces of prose and short stories, which remain unread. Most notable since moving to Bushwick, he has been working on his song writing, as well as a short piece of memoir entitled Trapped on the L Train. In addition to his writing activities, Weisman is an Eagle Scout, Krav Maga practitioner, avid bicyclist, blues guitarist and singer, as well as writing and speaking both Spanish and Dutch with mixed results. He holds a Masters in Literature, as well as a BA in English. He also has a growing real estate portfolio in Brooklyn, and works a commercial real estate broker in Manhattan.

MATT REECK has published poetry and translations in a variety of magazines and in four chapbooks, Love Songs & Laments, Sieve,Midwinter and 3 Hours. His
poetry is in the current or upcoming issues of BOMB, Brooklyn Rail,
Colorado Review, Columbia Poetry Review, EOAGH, Fact-Simile, Juncture
and The Swan's Rag. He has been happily married for one month and two
days.
PAUL D'AGOSTINO holds a Ph.D. in Italian literature and spends most of his time making very little use of it. Instead
he writes, makes artwork, translates, cuts hair, rides a skateboard and
curates group art exhibits at Centotto, otherwise known as his living
room. He is a part-time professor at CUNY Brooklyn College, Assistant
Editor of Journal of Italian Translation and Contributing Editor at The L Magazine. His fiction and poetry in various languages have appeared in Slice, Birdsong, Juncture,La Fusta and Il Farfisa.
